Outdoor Family Sessions

I absolutely love outdoor family sessions. They're such a great way to capture those relaxed candid shots, where nothing is too posed.  Outdoor family sessions are all about having fun with me capturing those precious moments. For me, the real magic can be found in the photos with those natural authentic smiles and laughs so I like to stand back, watch and photograph the action as it happens!

During our outdoor family session, you can go for a walk, play with a ball, bring along a favourite toy for a tea party or simply let inquisitive toddlers explore.

There's so many beautiful places to explore on Exmoor and I'm happy to recommend a location or you may already have a location in mind. One of my favourite locations is North Hill, where you can find the most beautiful sunsets and stunning backdrops. If woodland areas aren't your preferred style, we've also got beautiful beaches with Dunster, Kilve, Bossington and Porlock Weir all with stunning backdrops! We really are spoilt for choice on Exmoor and in Somerset.

I always talk about lighting (I'm a little bit obsessed with it) because for me, beautiful photos start with beautiful lighting. I'd always encourage a session either early morning or late evening typically called 'Golden Hour' especially on those beautiful clear days. This is when the sun is low and casts a beautiful soft light. Trust me, it's gorgeous! However, as a mum I also know that little ones get tired and cranky in the evenings so to capture the best of your little ones, that might not always be possible. I'm always flexible on times for a family session and try to work times around your children to ensure they are at their best and happiest! Depending on the time of day and the weather conditions, I may mix up our location to ensure we have plenty of shaded areas for a full sunny day. If the weather is looking cloudy, we'll get beautiful diffused light so we really can shoot any time of the day. If it's raining, we can either dance in the rain and embrace the moment, or re-schedule to either a different time or day.
